Wonderful World
He dreams far away—
He doesn’t hear all the teachers say.
His words don’t always come out right,
Although he tries with all his might.
He sees everyone’s best—
His love is so easily expressed.
He will call you friend
And stay with you to the end.
I don’t know why—
He struggles, and I cry.
His writing is on display
His words are all in disarray.
I try not to compare
As I hold him and say a prayer.
He may not understand
All that education demands,
But what a wonderful world this would be
If we all loved so unconditionally.
